MINERAL SECTOR

.....Minerals sector is one of the leading sectors supplying raw material to basic industries and also acts as impetus for the other sectors. Our country has got important quantity of mineral resources of different minerals. 2.5% of the world industrial minerals resources is at our country. Our country has got 62% of borax mineral, 20% of bentonite and more than half of perlite of the world resources. Also our country has got rich marble resources.

.....After late 1993 parallel to international markets important increase at exports and its dependent at production is occurred, share of mineral exports in total exports of Turkey is also increased. Main products of minerals sector of our country are; natural borates and concentrates, natural stones, ferro-chromium, chromium ores, copper ores, magnesite, zinc ores, feldspar, pumice stone, kaolin and other kaolin clays.
